Josh Henry Represents OneSpace at Truman State University Networking Event

Josh Henry Represents OneSpace at Truman State University Networking EventFive years after graduating from Truman State University, OneSpace’s Josh Henry stepped up to help his alma mater as a professional mentor for current students and fellow alumni. Josh served as a discussion leader for Truman’s “Bulldogs Supporting Bulldogs: Marketing Yourself” event at the Renaissance St. Louis hotel on Jan. 30, 2016.

The event kicked off with a keynote speaker, Lee Ann Howard from Howard & O’Brien Executive Search Consultants, and then broke off into speed networking groups that focused on social media, interview tips and career planning. With four years of experience in human resources at OneSpace, Josh was excited to share what he has learned with attendees.

“Grades are important, but while I was in school, I thought they were the only thing that mattered,” Josh said. “I wish I would have thought more specifically about what I wanted do and looked for internships and other experiences outside of the classroom that would have beefed up my resumé.”

With that in mind, he encouraged participants to think outside the box. Josh gave insight into what employers look for when considering job candidates and focused on how LinkedIn and building an online presence are effective tools for job seekers. He shared tips for making a profile stand out and provided creative ideas for tailoring an application to a specific job. Josh also explained the importance of thoroughly researching a company before beginning the application process.

Other discussion leaders at the event included Christopher Bay of Launch Code, Lisa Bedian from the city of St. Peters, Becky Cutright from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Amanda Gioia with MasterCard, Dr. Dwayne Smith representing Harris-Stowe University, Mike Stagoski of HMS Health LLC and Cody Sumter who works at Google, as well as being co-founder of Behavio.

“It was a pleasure to meet with students and alumni at this networking event. When you work in a specific area day in and day out, you forget that things that are second nature to you are actually very helpful for others,” Josh shared. “Truman’s commitment to students is incredible, and I’m happy to see they continue to put their students first with events like this one.”

There is no doubt that Truman is proud to see the professional success that Josh has achieved. At OneSpace, we are grateful that he continues to invest not only in our team, but in the community as well.
