Frontend Software Engineer

At OneSpace, we’re looking for a frontend engineer to join our team of highly technical, engaging team to help us build the app that will change the way businesses connect with a freelancers.  Foundational technical skills are essential, but curiosity and a strong desire to become an industry expert and surround yourself with like-minded Engineers is just as important. Our robust, home-grown, proprietary software provides an exceptional opportunity to learn more about distributed web development architectures and big data technologies.

Our Engineering Team is the very core of our business. Engineers are empowered to make real decisions and influence the direction of our products.  We work closely with a team of product managers and designers to grow and evolve this exciting product.

As a Frontend Engineer at OneSpace, you’ll be working with multiple internal teams to create amazing web applications backed by high performance distributed systems. You’ll be joining a team with a reputation for creating and maintaining incredible software, reporting to our Director of Engineering, Mike Henrichs.

In this role, you will:

Join a team of enthusiastic Engineers in building a distributed web application that pairs freelancers with work

Build an application that draws in and engages millions of freelancers

Become a fanatic UI tweaker who cranks out awesome experiences

Learn more about microservice architectures, NoSQL data stores, and distributed caches

Have more fun than you ever thought was possible in a real job

Guide us in our incessant efforts to improve our own work environment and agile development processes

Participate in technical sparring with the Product Team to better understand customer needs

We’re looking for folks who bring these to the table:

  • Experience:
      • Experience building professional, high quality web UIs
      • A portfolio of your best work – Show us something you’ve built
      • (Preferred) A Bachelor’s Degree in CS or related field or equivalent field experience
        • Should have a strong history of getting things done.
  • Social Skills:
      • The ability to hold your own in UX and design discussions with Product Designers and Engineers
      • A clear communication style that translates to both verbal and written discussions
      • A sense of humor about geeky TV shows and internet memes
      • Ability to weigh priorities and manage multiple simultaneous projects
  • A solid technical base of Engineering fundamentals:
      • Knowledge of React.js (or experience in a similar framework and a desire to learn)
      • Experience with Node.js and associated testing utilities
      • Solid base of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals
      • Knowledge of software design patterns and architecture
      • Experience building REST interfaces with JSON messages
      • Demonstrated knowledge of user-centered design
      • Excellent, relentless attention to detail
      • Ability to use different techniques to diagnose and fix software problems
      • Experience collaborating with other Engineers using version control (like Git)
  • A few specific other things that would help make you a perfect fit:
    • A strong desire to learn and grow your software development skills
    • Comfort in a fast-paced evolving Agile work environment
    • Knowledge of how to measure and tune application performance
    • Understanding of how to leverage memory management and caching to improve performance
    • Understand data modeling and document database architectures
    • Experience in C# and the .NET Entity Framework (to understand our back-end)
    • Experience running services in both Linux and Windows environments
    • Knowledge of micro-service architectures (e.g. the Netflix OSS stack)
    • Experience using distributed caching, NoSQL data stores, and Big Data analytics tools
    • Excitement about introducing the team to new tools, languages, or concepts that will help make our team and our product better
    • Experience with test automation frameworks like Jenkins
